Impact Analysis Before Breaking Anything
Before dropping a column, you see the 14 dashboards and 3 models that will break.
Framework / standard: ISO/IEC 38505-1 (Lifecycle)
A silent schema change can break 14 dashboards because nobody saw the impact. Linedat's impact analysis shows you, before touching anything, what depends on the asset you are about to change.
Upstream and downstream
Over the lineage graph, the analysis traverses the upstream and downstream dependencies of the asset, counting how many assets are affected and which ones are critical. A schema change goes from Russian roulette to an informed decision.
Tied to temporal lineage
Because lineage is append-only and reconstructible at any date, the impact you see is anchored to the real state of the graph, not an outdated snapshot.
The limits (what we do not claim)
The impact is calculated over the registered lineage, which is built manually or with the DOT editor; there is no automatic column-level parsing from SQL. The accuracy of the impact depends on the lineage being up to date.
How Linedat helps
Linedat turns a schema change into an informed decision: you see what breaks before you break it.
Related capabilities
We know what the lineage looked like on the fiscal year-end — and we can prove nobody touched it.
Data Contracts with Automatic Violation DetectionWithout a contract, every schema change is Russian roulette with someone else's data.
Governed Semantic SearchFind your "churn tables" even if none of them are called that — and with an audit trail.
