Data governance with the 6 principles, not with 6 slides

What ISO/IEC 38505-1 proposes

ISO/IEC 38505-1

ISO/IEC 38505-1:2017 applies the corporate governance principles of IT (ISO/IEC 38500) to data as a strategic asset. It structures governance around six principles — Value, Risk, Constraints, Quality, Lifecycle and Authority — under the Evaluate–Direct–Monitor (EDM) model. It is voluntary guidance, not a certifiable scheme.

Most programmes stop at six slides of principles. Linedat delivers each principle as a first-class entity and brings them together in an EDM view: the state of data governance at a glance, for the committee.

The six data governance principles

Each 38505-1 principle is delivered as a product capability, brought together in the EDM view.

Value

Data as an asset with measurable value. Linedat calculates a self-calculated utility index on demand and frames the four approaches to valuation.

Risk and Constraints

Data risk with a 5x5 matrix and versioned policies with scope hierarchy. Constraints applied and traced.

Quality and Lifecycle

Executable quality across 6 dimensions and audited asset lifecycle, with reconstructible temporal lineage.

Authority (Evaluate–Direct–Monitor)

Committees with traceable evidence, consented delegation and the EDM view that brings the six principles together in a single surface.

How Linedat covers it

Each 38505-1 principle is delivered as a product capability, brought together in the EDM view.

FAQ

Respuestas sobre implementación y capacidades

No. It is voluntary corporate governance guidance for data, not a certification scheme like ISO 42001. It complements certifiable standards and legal obligations such as the GDPR.
